The first-generation Volkswagen Lamando (internal code Typ 5F) premiered at the Chengdu Motor Show in August 2014 and launched in China in early 2015. Manufactured by SAIC-Volkswagen, it was styled as a low-slung 4-door coupe built on the modular MQB platform. Measuring 4,598 mm in length with a wide 1,826 mm body stance, the Lamando provided a sporty alternative to traditional compact saloons.

Engines included the 1.4 TSI (131 hp and 150 hp) and 1.8 TSI (180 hp), while the high-performance Lamando GTS gained a 2.0 TSI engine with 220 hp. Gearboxes were 5-speed manuals or 7-speed DSG automatics. A 2018 facelift added LED headlamps and redesigned bumpers before production ended in 2022.
