Volkswagen Derby II (Typ 86C) gallery (1981–1985)

The second-generation Volkswagen Derby notchback sedan with body code Typ 86C launched in late 1981 alongside the Polo Mk2. Distinguished by rectangular front headlamps rather than the round units used on the standard Polo, the model preserved its two-door sedan format. In 1985, Volkswagen retired the Derby nameplate, integrating the body style into the main lineup as the Polo Classic.

Engine offerings for the Typ 86C included 1.05-liter and 1.3-liter four-cylinder gasoline engines producing between 40 hp and 75 hp, mated to four-speed or five-speed manual gearboxes. The chassis delivered low maintenance costs and strong body integrity.
