About this generation
The original Volkswagen Beetle (Typ 1) became the longest-running and most manufactured car of a single platform in history.
The original Volkswagen Beetle (Typ 1 / Käfer) was designed by Ferdinand Porsche in the 1930s. Its mechanical concept was built around a central backbone chassis, a rear-mounted air-cooled flat-four engine, and rear-wheel drive. The iconic rounded silhouette became a globally recognized cultural icon. Available body formats included a two-door sedan and a Karmann-built convertible.
Air-cooled engine displacements expanded over the decades from 1.0 to 1.6 liters. Over its 65-year production history—concluding in Puebla, Mexico in July 2003—a record total of 21,529,464 Beetle units were manufactured.

Volkswagen Lengthens ID. Buzz Cargo Electric Van by 250 Millimeters
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has unveiled the long-wheelbase version of the ID. Buzz Cargo electric work van, adding 250 millimeters between the axles. The extended model features 4.4 cubic meters of cargo capacity, an 86-kWh battery pack, and a wider sliding door designed to fit a Euro pallet.

Volkswagen Unveiled Mission Efficiency Concept EV With Record 0.158 Drag Coefficient
Volkswagen has revealed the Mission Efficiency concept, an ultra-aerodynamic electric coupe built on the MEB+ platform as a spiritual successor to the XL1. During a test drive from Wolfsburg to Vienna, the prototype covered 1,278 kilometers on a 54.9-kWh battery with a single recharge, achieving an energy consumption of 6.89 kWh per 100 km.
