Third generation Toyota Sienna delivering expressive exterior styling, a dedicated SE sport variant, and upgraded driver assistance technologies.
The third generation Toyota Sienna debuted in December 2009 before entering production for the 2011 model year. Maintaining a 3,030 mm wheelbase, the minivan featured a redesigned body characterized by sleek aerodynamic lines and a lowered stance. For the first time, Toyota introduced a sports-oriented SE variant equipped with aggressive aerodynamic body skirts, a mesh front grille, recalibrated sport suspension, and 19-inch alloy wheels. Interior highlights included an asymmetrical dashboard layout, an available dual-view rear entertainment screen, and premium Lounge Seating second-row recliners with pop-out footrests.
Under the bonnet, initial engine choices comprised a 2.7-liter 1AR-FE inline-four (187 hp) and a 3.5-liter 2GR-FE V6 (266 hp) coupled with a six-speed automatic. A major mechanical upgrade in 2017 introduced a direct-injected 3.5-liter D-4S V6 boosting output to 296 horsepower alongside a new Direct Shift eight-speed automatic transmission. Subsequent mid-cycle revisions integrated the Entune 3.0 multimedia system and made the Toyota Safety Sense P suite of active safety technologies standard equipment across all trim levels.
