The third generation Toyota Avanza (W100 series) debuted in Indonesia in November 2021, representing a complete engineering revolution. The long-standing ladder-frame rear-drive setup was retired in favor of a modern front-wheel-drive unibody chassis built on the DNGA (Daihatsu New Global Architecture) platform. Overall length grew by 205 mm to 4,395 mm with a 2,750 mm wheelbase. Exterior aesthetics shifted toward a bold crossover-inspired design featuring an expansive trapezoidal front grille and slim LED headlamp units.
The completely redesigned interior introduced a floating 9-inch touchscreen, tilt/telescoping steering wheel, digital climate controls, and a flexible 'Long Sofa Mode' seating arrangement. Powertrain choices feature refined Dual VVT-i four-cylinder engines: a 1.3-liter 1NR-VE (98 hp) and a 1.5-liter 2NR-VE (106 hp). Transmissions transitioned to Daihatsu's D-CVT (Dual-mode CVT) alongside a five-speed manual. Top trims introduced the Toyota Safety Sense suite including Autonomous Emergency Braking.
