The fifth generation Leone Van was based on the Nissan AD (Y11), serving as the final iteration of the historic Leone label.
Produced from June 1999 to March 2001, the fifth and final generation of the Subaru Leone Van (Y11 code) was an OEM supply version of the updated Nissan AD (Y11) commercial wagon. Powered by Nissan 1.3-liter QG13DE, 1.5-liter QG15DE, and 1.8-liter QG18DE 4-cylinder petrol engines, it offered FWD and 4WD configurations. The MacPherson strut front suspension setup paired with the refined rear suspension layout struck an optimal balance between highway composure and smooth absorption of road surface imperfections. The engineering setup effectively combined the low center of gravity inherent to the horizontally-opposed engine layout with a rigid chassis frame, delivering precise handling and composure across dry pavement and slippery surfaces alike. Engine bay packaging ensured optimal front-to-rear axle weight distribution alongside efficient thermal cooling under sustained driving loads.
In March 2001, OEM supply concluded, drawing a final close to the historic Subaru Leone moniker after exactly 30 years of continuous automotive production.
