Subaru Justy V (M900) gallery (2016–present)
The fifth generation Justy returned in 2016 as a compact Japanese mini-MPV based on the Daihatsu Thor platform.
Introduced in Japan in November 2016, the fifth-generation Subaru Justy (M900 series) adopted a compact high-roof mini-MPV layout featuring dual rear sliding doors, co-developed with Daihatsu (twin to Daihatsu Thor and Toyota Roomy). It is powered by 1.0-liter 3-cylinder engines: a naturally aspirated 1KR-FE (67 hp) or a turbocharged 1KR-VET (98 hp), mated to a CVT with available 4WD. The engineering setup effectively combined the low center of gravity inherent to the horizontally-opposed engine layout with a rigid chassis frame, delivering precise handling and composure across dry pavement and slippery surfaces alike. Engine bay packaging ensured optimal front-to-rear axle weight distribution alongside efficient thermal cooling under sustained driving loads.
A 2020 facelift refreshed the front fascia and updated the Smart Assist active safety collision-avoidance system. Production remains ongoing in Japan. Designers placed a strong emphasis on cabin ergonomics, occupant visibility, and long-distance driving comfort. Robust mechanical reliability across the drivetrain and suspension components helped establish this generation as a benchmark choice within its competitive market segment worldwide.
