The second generation Justy was a Suzuki Swift-based rebadge produced in Hungary exclusively for the European market.
Produced from 1995 to 2003 at the Magyar Suzuki plant in Hungary, the second-generation Subaru Justy (JMA/MS code) was a rebadged variant of the European-market Suzuki Swift hatchback. Offered in 3-door and 5-door configurations, it was powered by Suzuki 1.3-liter 4-cylinder petrol engines outputting 68 hp and 86 hp. The engineering setup effectively combined the low center of gravity inherent to the horizontally-opposed engine layout with a rigid chassis frame, delivering precise handling and composure across dry pavement and slippery surfaces alike. Engine bay packaging ensured optimal front-to-rear axle weight distribution alongside efficient thermal cooling under sustained driving loads.
Subaru differentiated its model by equipping the Justy with a viscous-coupling full-time All-Wheel Drive system as standard hardware. A 1997 facelift refreshed the front bumper, bonnet, and headlight cluster. Production ran until 2003. Designers placed a strong emphasis on cabin ergonomics, occupant visibility, and long-distance driving comfort. Robust mechanical reliability across the drivetrain and suspension components helped establish this generation as a benchmark choice within its competitive market segment worldwide.
