Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit IV (SZ) gallery (1995–1998)
The final Silver Spirit IV series was produced from 1995 to 1998, featuring revised styling and a turbocharged V8 powertrain.
The fourth and final generation, marketed as the New Silver Spirit or Silver Spirit IV, was built at the Goodwood-predecessor Crewe factory from late 1995 until 1998. The vehicle received a distinct facelift characterised by body-coloured integrated composite bumpers, repositioned door mirrors, revised quarter glass, and a slightly reduced Spirit of Ecstasy mascot. The 6.75-litre V8 engine gained advanced Zytek electronic engine management, and by 1997, all models adopted a low-pressure Garrett turbocharger as standard, raising power output to 305 horsepower and vastly enhancing mid-range torque. Shifting was handled by the durable GM 4L80E four-speed automatic gearbox. Inside, the passenger cabin was treated to a restyled centre console, enhanced ergonomic seating, and upgraded digital climate controls. The Silver Spirit IV marked the culmination of eighteen years of SZ platform production before the marque transitioned to the BMW-developed Silver Seraph. It was sold internationally in core luxury markets worldwide.
