Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit II (SZ) gallery (1989–1993)

The second-generation Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit II made its official debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in late 1989. The most significant technological leap of this iteration was the introduction of Automatic Ride Control, an advanced computerised suspension system that actively adjusted damper firmness across three settings within milliseconds. Power came from the trusted 6.75-litre V8 engine, which was updated with a Bosch Motronic digital engine management system for improved throttle response, efficiency, and lower emissions. While early Mark II cars retained the reliable three-speed GM automatic gearbox, a major mechanical refinement arrived in late 1991 with the adoption of the four-speed GM 4L80E automatic transmission. Stylistic updates were subtle, including redesigned cast-alloy wheels, refreshed trim, and a thoroughly revised interior with a smaller leather-wrapped steering wheel and modernised climate controls. The Silver Spirit II enjoyed widespread international distribution across Europe, North America, Japan, and the Middle East.
