About this generation

The fourth generation of the Mazda BT-50 midsize pickup truck, continuing its technical alliance with Isuzu and focusing on robust diesel performance.

The fourth-generation Mazda BT-50 succeeds the TF generation, maintaining Mazda's strategic manufacturing partnership with Isuzu rather than adopting an electrified architecture from its Chinese partner Changan. Under the direction of chief designer Eiji Kimoto, the exterior styling receives a comprehensive evolutionary update aligned with Mazda's contemporary design identity.

To satisfy traditional commercial and trade buyers who demand uncompromising towing, payload, and severe off-road capabilities, the fourth generation prioritizes proven turbo-diesel powertrains at launch. Electrified and plug-in hybrid drivetrains have been intentionally bypassed for the initial debut in favor of durability and utility focus.

Compared to the previous generation, the new truck introduces a refreshed cabin environment, modernized chassis tuning, and upgraded driver assistance technologies while maintaining its core body-on-frame durability.
