The fifth-generation Lexus ES sedan (chassis code XV40) unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show in February 2006 for the 2007 model year. Styled under Lexus's L-finesse design language, it featured crisp character lines, a sleek profile, and an aerodynamic drag coefficient of 0.28. Tech features included SmartAccess keyless entry with push-button start, an available panoramic glass roof, voice-activated navigation, radar-based Pre-Collision System, and a 14-speaker Mark Levinson surround sound setup.
The ES 350 featured a 3.5-liter 2GR-FE V6 engine equipped with Dual VVT-i, delivering 272 horsepower through a six-speed electronic automatic transmission. The front-wheel-drive platform provided smooth power delivery and silent cruising. A 2009 mid-cycle update restyled the front bumper, radiator grille, fog light surrounds, and introduced LED turn signal indicators in the side mirrors alongside revised interior trim options.
