Lexus ES II (XV10) gallery (1991–1996)

The second-generation Lexus ES sedan (chassis code XV10) made its public debut in late 1991 as the ES 300, replacing the founding V20 series. The new model grew substantially, adding 5 inches in overall length and 3 inches in width, which elevated the vehicle into the mid-size executive luxury segment. The exterior featured a smooth, aerodynamic body profile with a drag coefficient of 0.32, integrated projector headlamps, and frameless door glass. Inside, the cabin offered expanded legroom, genuine California walnut wood trim, available leather seats, and an optional 12-speaker Nakamichi premium audio system.

Mechanically linked to the Japanese-market Toyota Windom (VCV10), the ES 300 initially utilized a 3.0-liter 3VZ-FE V6 engine producing 185 horsepower. For the 1994 model year, Lexus upgraded the powertrain to an all-aluminum 3.0-liter 1MZ-FE V6 generating 188 horsepower. Transmission choices included a five-speed manual and a four-speed automatic. A mid-cycle refresh for 1995 introduced a revised front grille, clear turn signal lenses, and standard dual front airbags, solidifying the ES as Lexus's best-selling sedan of the era.
