The second generation received an expanded lineup of modifications, including the light Elf version and increased payload variants.
The second generation of the Isuzu Elf light commercial truck, featuring the KA40 chassis code, was manufactured from 1967 to 1970. This lineup marked a major milestone for the renowned Elf family by introducing a lighter-duty version rated for a 1.25-tonne payload capacity. The vehicle was powered by reliable small-displacement gasoline engines, including the G150 powerplant, as well as early diesel options mated to manual transmissions. Compared to the preceding generation, the KA40 series featured a more practical cab design with single round headlights and improved weight distribution tailored for urban delivery needs. Throughout its production run, the range expanded to include various specialized utility bodies and flatbed configurations to suit diverse commercial tasks. The primary markets were Japan and various Asian nations, where the truck earned a stellar reputation for durability, simplicity, and low operational costs.
