The first generation Geely Atlas crossover, known in China as Boyue, won global popularity due to its design by Peter Horbury and reliable powertrains.
The first-generation Geely Atlas compact crossover SUV, developed under project code NL-3, was introduced in 2016 as the Boyue in China before expanding to international markets. Designed under the direction of Peter Horbury, its exterior showcased Geely's concentric expanding cosmos grille and balanced side profile. Built on the NL platform, the vehicle features front MacPherson struts and a rear multi-link independent suspension. Powertrain options included a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine with 139 horsepower, a 2.4-liter engine with 148 horsepower, and a 1.8-liter direct-injection turbocharged engine producing 184 horsepower. Transmission options comprised a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission sourced from DSI. Both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations utilizing a BorgWarner electro-hydraulic coupling were produced. The interior offered refined materials, a digital instrument cluster, and an intelligent voice-controlled infotainment system. Assembled locally in Belarus and China, the Atlas was sold in Eurasia, the Middle East, and South America.
