The fourth-generation Cadillac Seville was manufactured from 1992 through 1997 on GM's enhanced K-body platform. Featuring sleek, European-influenced sports sedan styling, it won Motor Trend's Car of the Year award upon release. The model line was split into the luxury-oriented Seville Luxury Sedan (SLS) and the performance-driven Seville Touring Sedan (STS), which added expressive lower body cladding, fog lamps, and dual exhaust outlets.

In 1992, the 4.9-liter V8 (200 hp) powered the car, before GM introduced the state-of-the-art 4.6-liter 32-valve DOHC Northstar V8 for 1993 (270 hp in SLS; 295–300 hp in STS). Paired with a heavy-duty 4T80-E 4-speed automatic transaxle, technical features included Road Sensing Suspension (RSS), traction control, ABS, dual airbags, and Zebrano wood interior accents.
