Buick Roadmaster VI (Series 70) gallery (1954–1956)

Produced from 1954 to 1956, the sixth-generation Buick Roadmaster Series 70 featured an all-new, lower, and wider GM C-body platform. Styling highlights included a dramatic wraparound panoramic windshield, bullet-style bumper guards, and prominent Sweepspear side chrome moldings. The lineup comprised four-door pillared sedans, two-door and four-door Riviera pillarless hardtops, and convertibles. The sole powerplant was the 322 cubic inch (5.3-liter) Nailhead V8, which received steady power upgrades from 200 horsepower in 1954 to 236 horsepower in 1955 and 255 horsepower in 1956. Power was directed through the innovative Variable Pitch Dynaflow automatic transmission, which altered stator blade angles under hard acceleration for instant response. Standard luxuries included power steering, power brakes, power windows, and lavishly upholstered interiors. Targeted at the North American luxury market, it stood as a direct competitor to Chrysler New Yorker and Cadillac Series 62.
