Arriving in 2006, the E70 expanded the X5's footprint to offer optional third-row seating, a roomier interior, and an elevated sense of luxury. It debuted an electronic gear selector, standard iDrive control, and advanced chassis tech like Active Steering and Adaptive Drive anti-roll control.

Engine options escalated from smooth inline-six diesels to high-powered V8s, culminating in the ferocious 555-hp X5 M. The E70 proved that high-performance SUVs could comfortably tackle both racetracks and long family road trips without compromise.
