About the model
The first-generation BMW X5 E53 arrived in 1999 as the manufacturer's initial venture into the SUV segment. It combined a unibody construction with fully independent suspension, full-time all-wheel drive, and a selection of six-cylinder and V8 powertrains.
The second-generation E70 grew in dimensions and introduced the brand's xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system alongside optional third-row seating. In 2013, the third-generation F15 refined the architecture with updated exterior styling, improved aerodynamics, and modernized turbocharged engines paired with eight-speed automatic transmissions.
The fourth-generation G05 adopted a new modular platform, introducing dual-axle air suspension and an expanded suite of electronic driving aids. The fifth-generation G65 carries the SUV legacy forward with modern powertrain refinements and upgraded vehicle electronics.
