Expect Mercedes GLC F-Cell in 2017
Mercedes is seriously considering fuel cell cars. The brand’s chief of research and development has confirmed the introduction of the GLC F-CELL in 2017.
In his interview with Autocar, he revealed that the offering will have innovated fuel cell technology. Prof. Dr. Thomas Weber did not specify, but said that the crossover will boast recent advancements in the area of hydrogen fuel cell technology. Therefore, the offering will get a compact hydrogen fuel cell powerplant. It will take less room than the other systems.
The price is said to be almost £50,000 (or $71,220). The vehicle will be sold in select markets.
The chief also assured that the automaker is “well advanced” on its intentions to sell a completely new EV. The information about the offering is scarce, but its range will stand at 250 and 300 miles. According to the reports, the EV will be disclosed at the next year’s Motor Show in Frankfurt and will go on sale in the following year.
It will not be the automaker’s first EV. However, it will become a significant improvement over the B-Class Electric Drive. We remind you that its range is only 87 miles.
