2027 Mercedes-Benz EQS Unveiled: Classic Look Meets Advanced EV Technology

  • Mercedes-Benz introduces the 2027 EQS with major updates.
  • New electric platform, enhanced battery capacity, and redesigned motors are included.
  • Available in the U.S. market starting the second half of 2026.

Mercedes-Benz has rolled out the 2027 iteration of its EQS electric sedan, incorporating a larger battery pack, a refreshed front fascia, and a cutting-edge 800-volt electrical system—doubling the previous 400-volt setup.

The automaker states that over a quarter of the vehicle's components have been newly engineered, upgraded, or optimized. This includes the battery, which now boasts a 122-kWh capacity, up from 118 kWh, a newly introduced two-speed transmission on the rear axle, and proprietary electric motors developed in-house.

Mercedes-Benz claims the base EQS 450+ model can cover up to 575 miles on a single charge under the WLTP standard common in Europe. However, U.S. drivers should anticipate a more conservative range around 400 miles, compared to the current 450+ which has an EPA-estimated range of 390 miles.

Design Enhancements

The 2027 EQS sports a redesigned front end highlighted by a powerdome hood and updated lighting features.
The standard version showcases a black grille adorned with a backlit star pattern and broad chrome slats, while the optional AMG Line offers a star-studded grille without chrome and a glowing central Mercedes emblem.

Inside, the flagship MBUX Hyperscreen remains standard equipment. Customers can opt for a steer-by-wire system featuring a yoke-style steering wheel and heated seatbelts for added comfort.

Pricing and Market Launch

Official pricing and detailed performance figures are expected to be announced closer to the sedan’s launch date, with deliveries in the U.S. beginning in the latter half of 2026.

The 2027 lineup will include the EQS 450+, EQS 500 4Matic (likely replacing the 450+ 4Matic), and the EQS 580 4Matic.

For comparison, the 2026 EQS 450+ starts at $101,250 (including a $1,350 destination fee), while the premium EQS 580 4Matic begins at $125,250. The 2027 models are anticipated to carry a higher price tag.
