Mercedes-AMG electric GT SUV will debut on October 17, 2026

Mercedes-AMG is preparing to unveil its first independently developed electric SUV, with reports indicating a world premiere on October 17, 2026. The debut is slated to take place in Stuttgart during The 140 Festival organized by the Mercedes-Benz Museum. Unlike existing electric utility vehicles in the company's lineup, the upcoming GT model is engineered entirely in-house as a clean-sheet project rather than a modified donor vehicle. While the initial reveal is anticipated in late 2026, market launch and initial customer deliveries are projected for early 2027.

The project traces back to November 2024, when Mercedes-AMG first announced intentions to build a full-size performance electric SUV positioned above the current EQE SUV and EQS SUV. It will become the second production model constructed on AMG.EA, the brand's dedicated electric vehicle architecture. Production of the vehicle is scheduled to be handled at the Sindelfingen manufacturing facility, which Mercedes-Benz has upgraded for electric car assembly, representing a geographical shift from AMG's historic manufacturing headquarters in Affalterbach.

Technical benchmarks for the platform have already been outlined by its sibling, the previously revealed Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe. In top-tier GT 63 trim, that performance sedan features an output of 1,153 horsepower and up to 1,475 pound-feet of torque, paired with an 800-volt electrical system, a 106-kilowatt-hour battery pack, and direct-current fast charging capable of exceeding 600 kilowatts at compatible stations.

The upcoming GT SUV coupe is expected to adopt a tri-motor configuration incorporating axial-flux electric motors developed by YASA, directly cooled battery cells, and the same high-voltage 800-volt network. Mercedes-AMG test vehicles have also been associated with advanced active chassis technology, although official specifications regarding the SUV's steering, suspension, and final output figures have not yet been published.
