Fifth-generation Hyundai Tucson production to launch in Kazakhstan with a $67 million investment

In December 2027, the Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan plant in Almaty will begin production of the fifth-generation Hyundai Tucson crossover. The corresponding agreement on the localization of the new model was signed by the Kazakh company Astana Motors and the South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor Company. The signing ceremony took place in Seoul as part of an official visit by the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to South Korea.

The total investment in the project will amount to 67 million dollars. Vehicle production will be organized using the completely knocked down (CKD) method, which includes welding and body painting technological processes. In addition, the production of several auto components for the new crossover will be established within Kazakhstan, including exhaust systems and seat upholstery elements.

The official world premiere of the fifth-generation Hyundai Tucson took place on August 19, 2026. The vehicle's exterior was developed under the new Art of Steel design language. The crossover received an angular, faceted body, vertically oriented daytime running lights, and a full-width LED strip across the front. Compared to the fourth-generation model, the Tucson has grown substantially in dimensions. The vehicle's length increased by 60 mm to 4700 mm, width grew by 40 mm to 1905 mm, and the wheelbase gained 30 mm, reaching 2785 mm. Sales of the model in South Korea are scheduled to begin at the end of 2026, with global markets to follow throughout 2027.

The Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan production facility has been operating since 2020. Currently, the enterprise produces Tucson, Mufasa, Sonata, Elantra, Santa Fe, Palisade, Staria, and Custin models, as well as a lineup of vehicles from the premium Genesis brand. The nominal capacity of the plant is 50 thousand vehicles per year. During the first eight months of 2026 (from January to August), production volume reached 25 thousand cars.
