2027 BMW iX3 M60 Debuts With 603 HP And 3.9-Second 0-62 Time
BMW has revealed the 2027 iX3 M60, marking the range-topping performance variant of its next-generation electric crossover. Equipped with BMW's sixth-generation M eDrive powertrain, the model utilizes an electric motor on each axle to generate a combined output of 603 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque. The rear axle features an electrically excited synchronous motor paired with a 420-amp inverter. According to the automaker, the performance SUV accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 3.9 seconds and achieves an electronically limited top speed of 149 mph.
Energy is stored in a battery pack with 112.2 kWh of usable capacity. While official EPA range figures have not yet been announced, the battery exceeds the capacity of the standard iX3, which offers an estimated US range of up to 434 miles. Powertrain and chassis functions are orchestrated by BMW's new Heart of Joy central processor, which calculates dynamic control inputs up to ten times faster than previous architectures. It integrates with BMW M Dynamic Performance Control to govern traction, torque distribution, and regenerative deceleration, featuring an M-specific Soft Stop function for smooth deceleration without conventional friction brake noise.
Chassis enhancements include standard Adaptive M Suspension with electronically controlled dampers, variable-ratio M Sport steering, stiffer front-end bracing, revised anti-roll-bar links, and an electronically controlled rear M Sport differential. Standard equipment includes 21-inch M alloy wheels, with 22-inch aerodynamic wheels and model-specific 21-inch performance tires available as options. Customers can also equip optional M Sport brakes with red or blue calipers.
Visually, the iX3 M60 features the M Sport exterior package, BMW Iconic Glow lighting, race-inspired optional M Yellow Lights, three-stripe M front lighting accents, an illuminated grille badge, and a black rear diffuser. Inside, the cabin introduces BMW Operating System X with Panoramic iDrive, centered around an angled 17.9-inch touchscreen and Panoramic Vision windshield projection. The steering wheel includes a red 12 o'clock marker and dedicated M Mode and Boost controls, complementing M Sport multi-contour seats and a 13-speaker, 430-watt Harman Kardon audio system with Dolby Atmos. Production starts in spring 2027, with US orders opening in late January.
