Next-generation BMW 3 Series long-wheelbase sedan revealed with G58 chassis code
The exterior design and technical specifications of the eighth-generation BMW 3 Series long-wheelbase sedan, designated with the internal factory code G58, have been revealed in the certification database of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
The sedan's exterior is designed in the style of the Neue Klasse concept. The Bavarian automaker has moved away from the massive protruding radiator grille: the signature kidneys are integrated into a solid horizontal dark band that combines them with narrowed headlights. The daytime running lights feature vertical graphics, and the hood has two distinct longitudinal creases radiating from the emblem. In profile, the long-wheelbase version is distinguished by semi-flush door handles and a panoramic roof made of a single piece of tinted glass. Additionally, 19- and 20-inch wheels, blue brake calipers, and a trunk lid spoiler are offered.
The overall body length is 4,865 mm with a wheelbase of 2,970 mm. Compared to the previous generation model, the sedan is 27 mm longer, while the distance between the axles has grown by 9 mm (which is 110 mm longer than that of the standard European sedan).
According to the certification documents, two versions are planned: 325L and 330L. Both are equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine from the B48 family. In the 325L version, the engine develops 211 hp, top speed is 233 km/h, and curb weight is 1,740 kg. The more powerful 330L variant delivers 258 hp and reaches 250 km/h with a weight of 1,753 kg.
The Chinese sedan's interior is expected to mirror the global version of the new 3 Series, which features an 18-inch central display angled toward the driver and a head-up display on the windshield in place of a conventional instrument panel. According to Autohome, the sedan will go on sale in China during 2027.
