BMW Unveiled the Neue Klasse iX4 Coupe SUV Topped by a 612-HP M60 Variant
The Bavarian automaker has unveiled the production electric coupe-crossover BMW iX4, which marks a fundamental break with the brand's established design traditions of the past twenty years. The new model completely departs from the familiar aggressive look of previous generations: it is executed in the concise Neue Klasse styling, through which the creators openly declare a shift in the brand's aesthetic direction. The model will enter the market in both standard all-wheel-drive iX4 xDrive modifications and a sporty iX4 M60 version with a dual-motor powertrain producing 612 horsepower.
The new crossover has become the Bavarian automaker's third production vehicle built on the modular Neue Klasse architecture, created from scratch exclusively for next-generation electric cars. Like the previously debuted iX3 and the i3 sedan, the new coupe-crossover is based on an 800-volt onboard electrical system. The powertrain combines the sixth generation of BMW eDrive technologies and the latest cylindrical battery cells, which provide increased energy storage density and noticeably speed up recharging at DC stations.
The transition to a dedicated EV platform made it possible to radically revise the body proportions and silhouette, making it more aerodynamic and minimalist. Pre-orders for the new BMW iX4 open within the current month, and the first production cars will reach buyers in March 2027.
