BMW M5 Touring Experiences Price Increase Due to High Demand

BMW is set to adjust the pricing of its M5 sedan and wagon models starting next month. The latest reports indicate an increase of $2,400, bringing the sedan’s starting price to $121,900 before additional fees and taxes. Meanwhile, the wagon version will be available for $123,900.

This $2,400 rise represents a 2.0 percent uptick compared to 2025, as highlighted by Cars Direct. When factoring in the destination fee of $1,175 and the gas guzzler tax of $2,600, the 2026 M5 sedan will be priced at $125,675. The 2026 M5 Touring is expected to begin at $127,675.

Interestingly, the M5 is not facing the steepest price hike in BMW’s lineup. The X5 M and X6 M Competition models are reportedly seeing their prices go up by $2,500, while the Z4 is experiencing a $1,000 increase. Despite these changes, demand remains strong, particularly for the M5 Touring.

Importance of M5 Touring Sales

The launch of the 2025 M5 Touring marks BMW’s debut of a performance-oriented wagon in the United States. The overwhelming interest in the M5 Touring is influencing BMW’s consideration to introduce the M3 Touring to the American market.

Earlier this year, BMW announced a boost in M5 production to meet the unexpected demand, equally dividing output between the sedan and wagon versions—contrary to the initial plan where the sedan was expected to make up two-thirds of production. Enthusiasts have shown a strong preference for the touring variant, even within the US.

Frank van Meel, the head of BMW M, mentioned in a recent interview that the Touring model is currently more sought after than the sedan in the US market. This trend may encourage BMW to proceed with the introduction of the M3 Touring, which the company hinted at last year.
