Audi R8 successor will be electric only

Audi said that the successor to the R8 will only have an electric setup. 

The company did not particularly tell us about its plans for electric cars. The Audi Sport product marketing director assured that the vehicle with prefix R would become only electric.

Audi will transform the R segment, and it will happen after 2022. The goal is extensive and lengthy, so don't expect Audi to soon equip the R8 with electric motors and batteries.

Alas, the Audi representatives have not yet told what the successor of the sports model will be and when it will be shown exactly. Battery technology for sports cars will improve significantly in the coming years, as costs for electric cars go down and efficiency goes up.
