Q2 and Q4 Trademarks for Audi from FCA

Audi finally persuaded FCA to refuse from is trademarks on the Q2 and Q4 badges.

The company’s CEO revealed to Autoblog that they want to fill out the SUV range with these names. What was received in exchange? Nobody knows yet. According to the CEO, money did not change hands.

He states that they agreed not to announce the cost, but FCA was not very willing to sell that. During years Audi has tried to buy it, but they said “never”. Though, there is never “never” in the business world. After this year’s negotiations, the both sides came to an agreement.

Stadler reveals that it was something very much like a trademark swap. The company may have offered a moniker that was used on 2 Maserati coupes long ago. It is “Bora”.

FCA has trademarked Q2 as a badge in order to stress its limited-slip differential tech. Meanwhile, Q4 can be found on the back of Maseratis. It represents four-wheel drive.

The automaker wants to apply the Q2 name for its coming-soon MQB-based crossover. Q4 is meant for a coupe-styled variant of the next Q3.
