Fresh Audi R8 will be More Rapid, Top Tech and Less Weight

Since its premiere in 2006, the R8 has been a huge profit for Audi, an auto-brand that lacked any real luxury sports vehicle history.

Though some changes have been made over the years on the R8 to keep it up-to-date, Audi is looking forward to revealing its next-gen sports vehicle in 2015 that will surely keep its way forward. Hopes to separate it even more from its competition, the next-gen R8 will be more powerful, lighter and extravagant.

It’s believed that the fresh car won’t stray too far from current one, meaning that its proportions and interior space will mostly stay the same. Fresh design details will be prominent however, such as a single-frame grille, brand-new matrix-beam LED lights with refreshed daytime running light style, and a shorter version of the vehicle’s trademark sideblade.

To decrease the weight, German brand will reach into its bag of tricks from its R8 LMS race model, meaning carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) will find its way onto the production vehicle. Chances are the hood and roof will be used to remove some weight while a variant of the downforce-generating double diffuser is expected too. Sure;y, all the work on the R8 e-tron won’t go totally to waste, as the next R8 will adopt its Multimaterial Spaceframe body to keep at least 50 lbs.

Audi is going to keep the fresh R8 under 3,300 lbs while bringing power up about 25 hp for both the V8 and V10 vehicles – about 450 hp for the V8, 570 hp for the V10. Fuel efficiency will be also improved as all cars will receive stop-start technology.
