Volvo S90 I (960) gallery (1996–1998)

First generation of the Volvo S90 luxury sedan, representing the renamed Volvo 960 sedan produced from 1996 to 1998.

In late 1996, Volvo revised its naming structure, rebadging the 960 sedan as the Volvo S90. Built on Volvo's classic rear-wheel-drive 900-series platform, it was produced as a 4-door sedan, including extended executive Royal and Executive editions. It represented the final classic rear-wheel-drive flagship produced by Volvo.

Power came from 2.5-liter (170 hp) and 2.9-liter (180-204 hp) Modular inline-six petrol engines coupled with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed Aisin automatic transmission. Production ended in 1998, making way for the front-wheel-drive S80.
