The Volkswagen ID.5 electric coupe-crossover with internal designation E39 debuted in November 2021. Sharing its MEB foundation with the ID.4, the ID.5 adds a sloping coupe roofline with a functional rear spoiler, reducing drag coefficient to 0.26. Despite the athletic silhouette, luggage capacity remains generous at 549 liters.

The ID.5 is equipped exclusively with the larger 77 kWh usable battery pack. Available configurations include rear-wheel-drive Pro variants (up to 286 hp) and the dual-motor 4Motion ID.5 GTX performance model (up to 340 hp), enabling ranges up to 540 km (WLTP). Upgrades in 2024 brought next-generation APP550 motors and improved infotainment ergonomics.
