Toyota Noah I (R60) gallery (2001–2007)
The first generation Toyota Noah (R60) mid-size minivan was manufactured for the Japanese domestic market from 2001 to 2007.
The first-generation Toyota Noah minivan, designated R60, debuted in Japan in November 2001 as the successor to the TownAce/LiteAce Noah. Transitioning to a front-wheel-drive layout with a transversely mounted engine, the R60 achieved a low flat floor and maximized passenger room. The vehicle offered sliding rear side doors, seating configurations for seven or eight occupants, and highly flexible seat folding options. Suspensions utilized front MacPherson struts combined with a rear torsion beam on FWD models.
Powering the Noah R60 was a 2.0-liter 1AZ-FSE direct-injection D-4 gasoline engine generating 152 horsepower. Initially mated to a four-speed automatic, Toyota updated the powertrain in 2004 with a Super CVT-i continuously variable transmission. FWD and full-time 4WD drivetrain options were available throughout the production run until replacement in 2007.
