The second generation Toyota Mark X (GRX130 series) debuted in October 2009. Maintaining the rear-wheel-drive N platform, the vehicle gained a reinforced body structure and a 20 mm wider track width. Exterior aesthetics embraced a striking design language centered around an iconic 'X' motif front grille, sharp LED daytime running lights, and muscular rear haunches. The interior was fitted with sport bucket seats, a 7-inch multimedia screen, Nanoe air purification, and up to nine occupant airbags.
Powertrain options featured two V6 engines: an updated 2.5-liter 4GR-FSE producing 203 horsepower and a high-performance 3.5-liter 2GR-FSE delivering 318 horsepower. Both engines were coupled with a six-speed sequential automatic transmission equipped with paddle shifters, offered in RWD or Four AWD configurations. The model underwent two major facelifts in 2012 and 2016, updating the aggressive front apron and lighting. Specialized limited-production GRMN variants added a six-speed manual gearbox, carbon-fiber roof panel, and tuned suspension. Production concluded in December 2019.
