Third and final generation Toyota Caldina wagon (T240 series) presenting aggressive futuristic exterior styling and the flagship GT-Four variant.
The third generation Toyota Caldina (T240 series) arrived in September 2002, debuting an avant-garde sports wagon body with aggressive front bumper air intakes, triangular C-pillars, and clear LED taillight lenses. Styled to project a pure performance stance, the cockpit-inspired interior integrated deeply recessed red-illuminated gauge pods, a three-spoke leather sports steering wheel, integrated multimedia, and heavily bolstered sport seats.
The performance crown belonged to the Caldina GT-Four (including the track-tuned N-Edition developed by test driver Hiromu Naruse), powered by a 260-horsepower 2.0-liter 3S-GTE turbo engine linked to a four-speed sequential automatic gearbox and Full-Time 4WD. Standard trims utilized naturally aspirated 1.8-liter 1ZZ-FE (132 hp) or 2.0-liter 1AZ-FSE D-4 (155 hp) engines with FWD or AWD options. A 2005 facelift updated the front fascia lighting and interior trim textures. A mid-cycle facelift in 2005 updated the front fascia lighting, grille inserts, and interior trim textures. Production of the iconic Caldina line officially concluded in June 2007.
