Toyota Caldina I (T190) photos

The first generation Toyota Caldina (T190 series) launched in November 1992 as the successor to the Carina Surf and Corona Wagon models. Built on Toyota's T190 chassis shared with the Corona sedan, the Caldina was produced in two distinct configurations: a passenger-oriented five-door station wagon with independent rear suspension and a commercial cargo van (Caldina Van) fitted with a heavy-duty leaf-sprung rear live axle. The exterior design presented clean, harmonious body proportions complemented by a wide rear tailgate aperture for easy loading.

Engine selections encompassed 1.5-liter 5E-FE, 1.8-liter 4A-FE, and 2.0-liter 3S-FE gasoline four-cylinders, topped by a 175-horsepower 3S-GE engine for the performance TZ-G trim, as well as a 2.0-liter 2C naturally aspirated diesel. Transmissions included five-speed manuals and four-speed automatics. Buyers could choose between front-wheel drive and Full-Time 4WD systems equipped with a central differential lock. A 1995 facelift refreshed the front grille mesh, front bumper profile, and rear reflector trim panels.
