Toyota Details 2027 SUV Lineup Changes Headlined by Facelifted Sequoia and Highlander EV
Toyota continues to expand and refine its extensive sport utility vehicle portfolio for the 2027 model year, ranging from entry-level compact crossovers to full-size body-on-frame platforms and dedicated electric vehicles.
The 2027 Toyota Corolla Cross carries over with minor adjustments, dropping the base S trim from its hybrid lineup. Buyers now choose between SE and XSE grades, with the Corolla Cross Hybrid base price increasing from $31,390 to $32,710. The compact RAV4, recently redesigned for 2026 with an exclusively hybrid lineup, Woodland, and GR Sport variants, is expected to receive no major updates for 2027, with FWD and AWD configurations available. Similarly, the plug-in hybrid RAV4 PHEV delivers up to 320 hp from its 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and twin electric motors, offering 52 miles of pure electric range.
Toyota's EV sub-brand sees the compact bZ and midsize bZ Woodland carry over after extensive 2026 revisions. The bZ Woodland retains its standard dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain generating 375 hp, accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 4.0 seconds, with range estimates of 260 to 281 miles depending on tire size. The smaller C-HR electric crossover also returns with a 338-hp dual-motor setup and up to 287 miles of range.
Key additions among larger utility vehicles include the new Woodland Edition for the three-row Grand Highlander. Available exclusively as an AWD hybrid, it features an 0.5-inch suspension lift, matte black 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, a removable second-row cooler, and specialized trail hardware. Meanwhile, the body-on-frame Land Cruiser gains optional heated and ventilated second-row outboard seats, an optional high-mounted snorkel air intake, and a new Inked black exterior paint option.
The full-size 2027 Toyota Sequoia receives the most substantial midcycle update. Exterior revisions encompass a refreshed front bumper, revised grille with a brighter integrated lightbar, rectangular fog lights, and tweaked trim accents. Inside, the Sequoia gets a standard 14.0-inch touchscreen with widget support, while other new technology includes 5G connectivity and Toyota Safety Sense 4.0. An off-road Trailhunter package is now available on the SR5 trim, bringing Old Man Emu suspension, Michelin LTX Trail tires, extra skid plates, and a locking rear differential.
Finally, the Highlander nameplate will skip the 2027 model year as it transitions into an all-electric three-row SUV for 2028. It will offer 77.0-kWh and 95.8-kWh battery options delivering up to 320 miles of range, built-in NACS charging ports for native Tesla Supercharger access, and available AWD.
