About this generation
The first mass-produced Tesla electric car, built on the Lotus Elise chassis.
The Tesla Roadster was the company's first production vehicle, proving the viability of lithium-ion battery EVs. Based on the Lotus Elise, it offered impressive performance and a range of about 350 km. Production ended in 2012, setting the foundation for the brand's current lineup.
