Launching in December 1982, the first-generation Suzuki Every (ST40V chassis series) replaced the high-roof Carry Van nameplate for Suzuki's passenger microvan line. Featuring a cab-over layout with dual rear sliding doors and a top-hinged tailgate, the Every maximized interior cargo and seating room within Japanese kei dimensions.
Mid-mounted engines included the 539 cc LJ50 two-stroke three-cylinder and the 543 cc F5A four-stroke three-cylinder delivering 28-29 hp, paired with a 4-speed manual transmission in rear-wheel-drive or part-time 4WD configurations.
