Unveiled in March 1985, the second-generation Suzuki Every (DA71V/DB71V series) featured boxy utilitarian bodywork with expanded glass areas and available glass sunroofs on Joy Pop passenger trims. Regulatory revisions in 1990 lengthened the body by 100 mm and increased displacement caps.
Initial 543 cc F5A engines were replaced in 1990 by the 657 cc 12-valve F6A engine (38 hp to 58 hp turbocharged). Transmissions included 4-speed and 5-speed manuals or a 3-speed automatic, paired with rear-wheel drive or part-time 4WD with low-range transfer gears.
