The fourth generation Stella launched in 2023 built on the DNGA platform featuring pillarless sliding side doors.
Debuting in 2023, the fourth-generation Subaru Stella (LA650/LA660 code) migrated to the modern DNGA (Daihatsu New Global Architecture) modular platform. For the first time, it incorporated pillarless sliding side doors for unobstructed passenger entry. Engine options center on 660 cc 3-cylinder KF engines (52–64 hp) paired with CVTs. The MacPherson strut front suspension setup paired with the refined rear suspension layout struck an optimal balance between highway composure and smooth absorption of road surface imperfections. The engineering setup effectively combined the low center of gravity inherent to the horizontally-opposed engine layout with a rigid chassis frame, delivering precise handling and composure across dry pavement and slippery surfaces alike. Engine bay packaging ensured optimal front-to-rear axle weight distribution alongside efficient thermal cooling under sustained driving loads.
The cabin offers sliding seats and digital infotainment, backed by Smart Assist safety software. Production continues in Japan. Inside, the cabin showcased durable trim materials, clear instrument cluster graphics, and intuitive control ergonomics that earned praise from automotive reviewers globally. Designers placed a strong emphasis on cabin ergonomics, occupant visibility, and long-distance driving comfort. Robust mechanical reliability across the drivetrain and suspension components helped establish this generation as a benchmark choice within its competitive market segment worldwide.
