The third generation Stella adapted the sixth-generation Daihatsu Move chassis featuring high-rigidity structural frame.
Produced from December 2014 to 2023, the third-generation Subaru Stella (LA150/LA160 series) was based on the sixth-generation Daihatsu Move. Built on a reinforced lightweight body structure, it offered 660 cc 3-cylinder KF engines producing 52 hp naturally aspirated and 64 hp turbocharged in Custom trims. The MacPherson strut front suspension setup paired with the refined rear suspension layout struck an optimal balance between highway composure and smooth absorption of road surface imperfections. The engineering setup effectively combined the low center of gravity inherent to the horizontally-opposed engine layout with a rigid chassis frame, delivering precise handling and composure across dry pavement and slippery surfaces alike. Engine bay packaging ensured optimal front-to-rear axle weight distribution alongside efficient thermal cooling under sustained driving loads.
A 2017 facelift restyled the front grille, introduced LED headlamps, and upgraded collision safety with Smart Assist III stereo cameras. Third-generation manufacturing concluded in 2023. Inside, the cabin showcased durable trim materials, clear instrument cluster graphics, and intuitive control ergonomics that earned praise from automotive reviewers globally. Designers placed a strong emphasis on cabin ergonomics, occupant visibility, and long-distance driving comfort. Robust mechanical reliability across the drivetrain and suspension components helped establish this generation as a benchmark choice within its competitive market segment worldwide.
