Unveiled in 2011 at the Shanghai Auto Show and produced primarily through 2016, the second-generation Nissan Tiida, internally designated as the C12 series, represented a major stylistic and engineering evolution over its predecessor. Built upon an updated version of the Renault-Nissan B platform, the C12 featured a stretched wheelbase and wider tracks compared to the outgoing C11 model, yielding even greater rear-seat legroom and improved road manners. Unlike the previous generation that offered both sedan and hatchback variants under the same nameplate in most regions, the C12 generation focused on the five-door hatchback layout, abandoning the tall, boxy proportions of the original in favor of a lower, more fluid, and aerodynamic profile. Under the hood, the powertrain lineup centered on reliable four-cylinder gasoline engines, notably the naturally aspirated 1.6-liter HR16DE unit and, in select performance-oriented trims, a turbocharged 1.6-liter direct-injection MR16DDT engine. Transmission choices consisted of five- or six-speed manual gearboxes alongside an updated Xtronic continuously variable transmission (CVT) incorporating an auxiliary gearbox for enhanced fuel efficiency and smoother acceleration. Throughout its production run, minor equipment updates kept the cabin competitive with dual-zone climate control, upgraded infotainment interfaces, and enhanced safety features. The C12 Tiida enjoyed strong sales in China, the Middle East, and Taiwan, while also being marketed in Australia, New Zealand, and Thailand under the revived Nissan Pulsar badge.
