5About this generation
The third-generation Nissan Terrano (codenamed D10) is a compact B0-platform crossover developed specifically for emerging automotive markets.
Produced between 2014 and 2022, the third-generation Nissan Terrano (D10) marked a fundamental shift in the nameplate's philosophy, replacing the rugged SUVs of earlier iterations with a unibody five-door compact crossover. Built on the proven B0 platform through badge-engineering cooperation within the Renault-Nissan Alliance, it shared its core architecture with the first-generation Renault Duster while featuring distinct exterior styling, including Nissan's signature V-motion front grille, redesigned headlamps, bespoke front and rear bumpers, re-sculpted tailgate panels, and an upgraded dashboard layout with closable central storage compartments. Powertrain options varied by region: in Russia and neighboring CIS countries, the lineup centered around naturally aspirated 1.6-liter and 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engines, whereas the Indian market also received versions of the 1.5-liter K9K turbodiesel engine. Depending on the drivetrain configuration—available in either front-wheel drive or selectable all-wheel drive with an electromagnetically controlled multi-plate clutch—transmissions included five-speed and six-speed manuals, a four-speed torque-converter automatic, and an automated manual transmission on select diesel variants. Throughout its production run, the Terrano D10 received several model-year updates and interior refreshes around 2016 and 2017, introducing revised engine output ratings, updated instrument clusters, a modernized steering wheel, remote engine start, enhanced cabin insulation, and improved infotainment features. The primary target markets for the D10 generation were India, Russia, and Eastern Europe.
