Introduced in 2010 and produced across various global regions until 2022, the fourth-generation Nissan March (K13) shifted from a primarily Japanese and European city car into a true world car engineered on the lightweight Nissan V platform. Compared to the preceding K12, the K13 adopted a more conventional yet aerodynamic five-door hatchback body style featuring a distinctive double-bubble roof contour designed to enhance structural rigidity and reduce cabin resonance without adding weight. Manufacturing was consolidated in major hubs including Thailand, India, Mexico, and China to supply over a hundred countries under both the March and Micra nameplates. Under the hood, the biggest mechanical change for the Japanese and Asian markets was the adoption of a lightweight 1.2-liter HR12DE three-cylinder petrol engine, joined in select markets by a supercharged direct-injection HR12DDR unit and in Latin America by larger 1.5-liter or 1.6-liter four-cylinder engines. Power was routed mainly to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox, a traditional four-speed automatic, or a next-generation Xtronic CVT equipped with an auxiliary sub-planetary gear ratio that broadened the transmission range, while Japanese specifications also offered four-wheel drive and an Idling Stop system. A comprehensive facelift in 2013 introduced Nissan's signature V-Motion front grille, reshaped headlamps and taillights, restyled bumpers, and an upgraded dashboard layout, followed by a further regional redesign in Latin America during the late 2010s that kept the model competitive until the end of its run.
