The third-generation Mitsubishi Pajero (V60 and V70 platform codes) premiered in late 1999. The vehicle underwent a major structural overhaul, replacing the traditional separate frame with a monocoque unibody structure incorporating an integrated frame alongside four-wheel independent suspension. This lowered the vehicle's center of gravity and delivered significantly improved handling precision on paved surfaces. Engine options encompassed 3.0-liter V6, 3.5-liter V6 GDI (6G74), and 3.8-liter V6 (6G75) petrol engines, as well as a 3.2-liter 4M41 DI-D direct-injection turbodiesel. Transmissions included five-speed manual and five-speed INVECS-II automatic gearboxes. A 2003 facelift brought subtle exterior revisions before production ended in 2006.
