The fifth-generation Mitsubishi Pajero marks the return of the iconic Japanese nameplate to the global SUV lineup. Departing from the unibody structure with integrated subframes used on the previous two generations, the new model returns to a dedicated, heavily reinforced ladder-frame chassis shared with the latest Triton pickup. The exterior adopts an imposing, boxy design language with pronounced wheel arches, generous underbody shielding, a 230 mm ground clearance, and an under-mounted spare tire replacing the historic tailgate carrier.
Under the hood, the SUV is powered by a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine developing 204 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque, matched with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The chassis layout combines high-mounted double-wishbone front suspension with a modern five-link rigid rear axle. Off-road capability is anchored by the Super Select 4WD-II system featuring low-range gearing, a center locking differential, and the multi-terrain Super-All Wheel Control (S-AWC) suite with Active Yaw Control.
Inside, the cabin features a versatile seven-seat layout with sliding second-row seating and premium sound insulation via acoustic glass. The dashboard is centered around dual digital screens up to 14.3 inches, paired with tactile physical switchgear and an off-road Multi Meter displaying pitch, roll, altitude, and live torque distribution across axles.
