The fourth-generation Mitsubishi Montero (V80 and V90 model series) debuted in 2006. Retaining a monocoque body architecture with independent suspension, it offered updated styling and reinforced RISE safety cell protection. Engineering of the Montero IV (V80) (factory code V80) emphasized high structural rigidity, aerodynamic efficiency, and optimized interior spatial packaging. Built with reinforced body structures utilizing high-tensile steel alloys, the platform delivered reduced curb weight alongside improved occupant crash protection. Engine options included a 3.8-liter V6 MIVEC petrol unit (250 hp) and a 3.2-liter DI-D turbodiesel mated to a 5-speed automatic gearbox and Super Select II 4WD. Production concluded in 2021.
