Introduced in 1990, the W463 chassis marked the evolution of the G-Class from an all-terrain workhorse into a highly prestigious luxury SUV. Technical highlights included permanent all-wheel drive, three electro-hydraulically lockable differentials operated via center-console buttons, ABS brakes, and a comprehensively redesigned interior trimmed in fine leather and real wood veneers.
