Isuzu Forward II (SBR) gallery (1975–1985)

The second generation of medium-duty trucks featuring expanded modifications and powerful turbodiesels.

The second-generation Isuzu Forward, introduced under the SBR index, utilized a robust chassis frame platform with a cab-over-engine layout optimized for tight urban distribution tasks. The vehicle was manufactured with various wheelbase lengths and offered as flatbeds, dump trucks, and specialized chassis configurations. It was primarily powered by the proven 5.4-liter 6BB1 diesel engine, with heavier variants later adopting more powerful turbocharged 6BD1 units mated to manual transmissions. The primary change compared to the first generation was the abandonment of the semi-cabover design in favor of a true cab-over layout, significantly improving maneuverability and forward visibility. Throughout its production run, the model underwent regular updates to comply with tightening emission regulations and safety standards of the era. The primary sales market was domestic Japan, alongside expanding exports to developing regions.
